DETROIT, Mich. -The Ford Motor Company is considering asking Firestone to recall tire models in addition to those recalled last year, even though the safety issues pertaining to these models are not considered as serious of those previously recalled.
Ford statisticians identified the latest problems after reviewing data on many brands of tires used on many kinds of vehicles, including those of other auto manufacturers. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is working with Ford on this matter.
