California Hosts WMD Instructor Training

Washington, D.C. – The IAFF, through supplemental funding provided by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), is offering its first ever Hazardous Materials Instructor Training event for its new Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) course. The training will be held in Santa Monica, Calif. on June 17-20, 2002.

The four-day train-the-trainer provides 32 contact hours of facilitative instruction on educational methodology, the new WMD course, as well as the new IAFF First Responder Operations (FRO) course on CD ROM. This course is available free-of-charge to IAFF members.

Eligible participants will receive complete WMD and FRO course kits (text, CD ROM, etc.) and the skills needed to train emergency response personnel in their communities. Applicants will be accepted on a “first come, first serve” basis. This course will reach capacity quickly.
