Firefighters help save lives every day, by responding to emergencies and sharing fire prevention information. During the month of October firefighters visit schools in our community to talk with children about the importance of having a home escape plan and offer tips to prevent fires. Fire Prevention Week is held annually in October in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire which occurred in 1871.
