PA Student Burned in Off-Campus Housing Fire

A LehighUniversitystudentwas burned in an early morning fire at an off-campusresidence in South Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The Express-Timesreports (http://bit.ly/Sb7Dzv) that the two-alarm fire was extinguished in about 15-20 minutes. One firefighter suffered a back strain during the incident.

The fire victim suffered burns on various parts of his body and is being treated at an area burn unit. His injuries were deemed nonlife-threatening. The victim’s roommate won praise from Deputy Commissioner and Fire Marshal Robert Novatnack for rousing other dozing people in the residence and getting them to safety as the fire began to spread.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
