Fire Behavior & Building Construction Drill: Single Family, A-side

Bringing together your knowledge of the principles of fire behavior and building construction gives fire officers and firefighters another way of profiling their tactics at a fire scene. Using a single photo of an incident forces you to apply your decision-making skills based on the limited amount of information that is available.

You are the first in officer at the building identified in the drill below. Determine your size-up and initial incident plan functions based on your knowledge of building construction and fire behavior. Apply your departments response factors and SOGs to your decision-making for this incident. Assume fires are extending beyond room and contents and into the structures.

Forest Reeder began his fire service career in 1979. He currently serves as Battalion Chief / Director of Training & Safety with the Pleasantview (IL) Fire Protection District (www.plvw.org),培训主任uthwest United Fire Districts (www.sufd.org).
