Bronx (NY) Fire Kills One Person, Critically Injures Another

An early morning fire killed one person and injured a disabled man on Tuesday in the Bronx.

The 45-year-old disabled male victim was critically injured in theresidential fire, which occurred at about 7:30 a.m., according to the New YorkDaily News(http://nydn.us/17xrxLT). The injured man’s mother, 84, died in the fire.

Neighbors attempted a rescue, but they were stymied by thick smoke and flames. The elderly victim reportedly could be seen struggling at an upstairs window.

Sixty Fire Department of New York firefighters responded to the scene, pulled the victims from the flames, and transported them for medical treatment, but doctors could not revive the senior victim.
