Car Strikes San Antonio Fire Apparatus, Sending It into Apartment Building

ATexas firetruckwas responding to a call when it was struck by a “fast moving vehicle” that continued driving away, according to local media reports.

The force of the impact caused the fire engine to swerve off the road and directlyinto an apartment building, the San Antonio Fire Department shared on Twitter.

“The one occupant in the apartment with the most damage, she and her husband and child had just gone to bed,” Chief Charles Hood told WOAI. “So you can just imagine if it had been just a few hours earlier or someone standing at the corner, itcould have been multiple tragediestonight but we avoided those so we are very happy about that.”

Nobody reported any injuries, KSAT reported, but 17 residents were displaced as the building needs repaired.
