Wire Glass from a Fire Retardant Standpoint

Importance of Its Use in Fire Prevention—Great Strides Made in Improving Its Manufacture— The Advantage of Corrugated Wire Glass

FIRE PREVENTION. Isn’t it better to “prevent” fire than it is to have to “fight” it? Wire glass, approved by the National Board of Fire Underwriters, is a fire retardant and prevents flames from spreading from one place to another. It is required in all kinds of buildings today, for windows, doors, fire escapes, elevator enclosures, and, in fact, in every place where there is any fire hazard. Wire glass admits free access to the building or part on fire, as a small opening for the hose can be made, and firemen can fight the flames from the outside without anyinjury. Wire glass confines the fire to the place of origination. It withstands temperature of 1,200°.
