An answer to the foreground logistics problem has been embodied in the salvage-hose-ladder truck of the Richland, Wash., Fire Department. Built on an American LaFrance chassis, this unit has a four-cylinder cascade system for filling breathing apparatus tanks. It also carries about 150 pieces of auxiliary equipment in addition to three 35-foot extension, two 14-foot roof and two attic ladders and 1,000 feet of 3 1/2-inch hose. It also carries a deluge set, nine salvage covers, two 2,500-watt generators with floodlights and cord reels, two oxyacetylene cutting units, a rotary rescue saw, an explosimeter, a fog generator deodorizer, a chain saw, two sets of self-contained breathing apparatus and six spare tanks.
