The fire chief of Pleasant Valley, N. Y., was recently ticketed for speeding by a state trooper while answering an alarm of fire. State police said the fact that the chief’s siren and red blinker were operating didn’t matter. They pointed out that the chief was driving his own car and therefore not an “emergency vehicle.” The chief contended it was still official business.
