West Coast Brush Fire Loss Placed at $500,000
A slackening wind helped fire fighters battling a blaze which swept the Malibu Hills, Cal., and left an estimated $500,000 worth of destroyed and damaged homes in its wake.
Residents of the thickly-populated Fernwood Park region returned as the wind died down on the third day of the brush fire which swept through the canyons above the well-known movie colony at Malibu, near Los Angeles. A general evacuation of the threatened area had started.
