WELLS
The use of artesian wells in the lower Missisipp_____ valley has wrought a wonderful change. Formerly the people in that region habitually drank the water from small surface streams, from shallow wells and from sluggish bayous. Now that the delta has been penetrated by capital, which brought railroads and improvemen’s among them being deep borings for water, the region has been robbed of many of terrors and has proven to be exceedingly healthy.
An artesian well is to be bored in Chicora park, Charleston, S. C., to a depth of from 800 to 500 feet. The well will be ten inches in diameter at the top, tapering to six inches at the bottom.
