The Corsicana, Tex., Development Company, James L. Autry, president, has let a contract to the American Well and Prospecting Company, H. G. Johnston, manager of Corsicana, for three artesian wells, to cost $30,000. When those are drilled, water works will be pushed to completion.

The five days’ test on the big well at Paddock pasture, Beatrice, Neb., as a source of city water supply, has now continued for days, and the result is far from being satisfactory. Its most sanguine friends are about discouraged over the prospect. A new scheme is now being advocated, to make a search for water at a series of springs across the river in South Beatrice. The matter will come up for consideration at a special meeting of the council early next week, when the full reports of the Paddock pasture well system will be made, and the availability of that point as a water supply definitely determined. There are still many ardent friends of the Blue river in the city, who are unwavering in their belief that the true solution of the Beatrice water supply lies in the Blue river alone..
