WATERWORKS REPORT OF ALBANY, N. Y.
The bureau of water at Albany, N. Y., has issued a voluminous report on the work of its system during the year ending September 30, 1909. It shows that during the year there was pumped into Prospect and Bleecker reservoirs, by the two Holly pumps, an average quantity, based on plunger displacements, of 8,653,000 gallons of filtered water per day. The three Allis-Chalmers pumps delivered to Prospect and Bleecker reservoirs an average quantity, based on plunger displacement, of 4,609,000 gallons of filtered water per day, making a total average pumpage per day of 13,262,000 gallons of water. This quantity is against 13,886,000 gallons measured by orifices at the filtration plant. The discrepancy is accounted for by water used for condensing and steaming purposes at the central station.
Holly engine No. 1 was in operation 3,760 hours, pumping into Prospect and Bleecker reservoirs 1,739,850,000 gallons at an average rate of 11,105,000 gallons per twenty-four hours.
