WATER SUPPLY
—At Marblehead, Mass., the contract to lay the water pipes has been awarded to N. J. Dean & Co., and the water commissioners have voted to purchase the Ludlow hydrant and Chapman gate. Now, that the matter is settled, work will be begun and pushed to completion as rapidly as possible. Over seven miles of pipe will be laid, and the water system will then be completed.
—At Newton, Mass., the contract for the 5,000,000 pumping engine and boilers for the high service has been awarded to the Geo. F. Blake Manufacturing Co. for $35,000.
