WATER SUPPLY.
—R. D. Wood & Co. of Philadelphia sued the city of Fort Wayne, in the Federal Court, claiming $10,322 for extra work in laying water mains for the city, together with acculated interest for seven years. The case went to the Supreme Court and was remanded for another trial. Last Tuesday the company again secured judgment against Fort Wayne, this time for $9372.
—John Chambers, who has so long and efficiently filled the position of water register in the department of public works of New York city, has just sustained a severe bereavement in the loss of his wife. The associates of Mr. Chambers in the department of public works, deeply sympathizing with him in his bereavement, drafted a suitable letter of condolence, signed by the following committee of clerks in the bureau of the register, viz.: Clerks Hawley, Shields, Deumihan, Wolf, Moody, Herbel and Chief Clerk Clifford.
