Water Rates
Cedar Falls, Ia., has adopted new water rates According to the revised schedule, if the water users pay up promptly they are given a discount which makes the price for water the same as it is at present; if they neglect to pay for a certain length of time after payments are due, their water will cost them more. The city has 1,260 water users at the present time. About threefifths of these are on meters; the others are buying water on a flat rate.
The new $115,000 triple expansion pump at Baltimore has been christened Uncle Bob McCuen by Engineer Whitman. The pump has a daily capacity of 30,000,000 gallons, and is the largest of its kind in the state. It has 3,000,000 gallons more capacity than the large pump located at the Sewerage Commission’s pumping station. In addition, it possesses twice as much horsepower There are two smaller pumps at the Mount Royal Station, each with a capacity of 17,500,000 gallons per day.
