WATER RATES
The city of Rochester, Ind., has petitioned the Public Service Commission for authority to increase its water rates.
The water board of Lockport, N. Y., has been petitioned to reduce the rate of 25 cents per 1,000 gallons now charged the county for water furnished the County Tuberculosis Sanitarium. The board granted a reduction of 10 cents a thousand, if it should prove that 10,000 gallons were used every 24 hours. A manufacturing company also asked a reduction from the present meter rate of 3 cents per 1,000 gallons for all over 30,000 gallons daily consumption. The company is building a new plant, and expects to use 1,000,000 gallons every 24 hours. The matter was laid on the table.
