Valley Fire Chiefs’ Club Formed in Ohio
A new club has recently been organized in the Mahoning river valley called The Valley Fire Chiefs’ Club. It is composed of not merely the chiefs of city departments, but also welcomes to membership all chiefs in industrial plants. The club meets at the different works and inspects the plant with reference to fire protection, suggesting to the chief of the works what he should have for fire prevention as well as protection. The members are enthusiastic about the club and expect it to improve conditions wonderfully as the friendly conferences have a stimulating effect that the men find greater than cold official inspections. The president of the Valley Fire Chiefs’ Club is Joseph Wallace, chief of the fire department of the city of Youngstown, Ohio; vice-president, Samuel Butler, chief of the Republic Iron and Steel Company, and the secretary, Phillip J. Hardy, chief of the Sheet and Tube Company plant. The By-laws of the club are as follows:
The Industrial Plant constitutes a serious hazard relative to fire frequently resulting in loss of time to employees as well as endangering: their lives, besides the monetary loss to buildings and equipment is well known to Are fighters throughout the country.
