The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official on-duty deaths of Firefighter Anthony Spano, 47, of the Chicopee Fire Department on March 30, 2017.
Firefighter Spano worked his shift which included one or more emergency response calls, including a “lift assist” call where he complained of back pain. Fewer than 24 hours later and just after coming off of his duty shift, Firefighter Spano passed away from a nature and cause of fatal injury still to be reported when he fell ill while exercising at a gym.
