Two Platoons Successful in Butte, Mont.

Chief Peter Sanger of Butte, Mont., in his annual report for 1913, says, concerning the two-platoon system which was installed in that department Feb. 4. 1913: "In my last year’s report 1 was unable to give a good report of our double-platoon system, as it was only in existence two months at that time, but I must say at this time that the system has increased the efficiency of the department. The men are getting used to it now, and on several occasions where it became necessary to call in the reserve, they responded in good shape, and there is no doubt in my mind that the double-platoon system has come to stay in departments that have adopted it."
