To Organize Hartford County Association

Chiefs and captains of the Hartford County volunteer fire departments held a meeting recently in the Thontpsonville, Conn., fire headquarters and considered various matters pertaining to the general welfare of the departments. It has been felt for some time among members of the smaller organizations that if the various volunteer departments of each county could be brought into closer contact with tacit other greater good could be accomplished and the meeting considered various ways by which the volunteer departments can render assistance to another in case of emergency, as well as increasing the social relations. With these ends in view the meeting took preliminary steps for the organization of a Firemen’s Mutual Association of Hartford County. Chief William J. Hines, of the Thontpsonville department, was chosen chairman, and the secretary is Walter E. Price, chief of the Warehouse Point Company. There also was a committee of five appointed, including Chief Hines, Chief Price, Chief Dobbs, of Windsor Locks, former Chief Leek, of Windsor and another representative of the Windsor department, to draft suitable by-laws and regulations. The next meeting is to be held at Thontpsonville Sept. 2. The Thompsonville department is making plans to invite the State Association to have its annual convention next year in that village and delegates at the meeting there were heartily in favor.
