MANY different lengths of ladders are available for Fire Department use, each designed to permit easy and quick access to upper floors. They range in length from the single twelve-foot ladder that is carried on city service trucks to the fifty-five-foot extension ladder. For greater heights there is the aerial ladder that is part of a turntable arrangement on special fire apparatus.
