IN SEPTEMBER AND October of this year, the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration held rulemaking hearings on proposed 29CFR 1910.1030, "Occupational Exposure to BloodBorne Pathogens.” The proposed regulation would help protect healthcare workers and all emergency first responders from exposure to Hepatitis B, AIDS, and other diseases transmitted through the blood.
