THE NEW PULSOMETER.
MISCELLANY
THE new pulsometer is a double-acting (two cylinders, one filling while the other is discharging) condensing steam pump, without any mechanical appliances to require oiling, absorb power orget out of order. All wearing parts are interchangeable, and can be renewed when worn with, out removing the pump from its position and without skilled labor. It is purely functional and automatic in its operation. No machinery or engine is required to run it, there being only a steam pipe from boiler to pump. The pressure of steam will force the liquid above the pump, is due to the pressure in the boiler, while the subsequent condensing of the same (by the peculiar construction of the pump), forms the lifting power of the suction to raise the liquid to the pump. There being no exhaust from the pump, it is claimed that a saving is made of fifteen pounds (atmospheric pressure) over ordinary piston pumps, besides the expense of piping to point of exhaust.
