THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIRE ENGINEERS.

Among the other items of entertainment provided for those who attend the forthcoming convention of the International Association of Fire Engineers at Charleston on October 9, 10, 11, is a visit to the historic Fort Sumter. The necessary permission was kindly granted Major Smyth by Adjutant-General Corbin through Senator Tillman, subject, of course, to “such restrictions as may be deemed necessary to the public interests." The preparations for holding the convention are now nearly complete, and Chief Marjenhoff and his aides are leaving nothing undone to make the gathering a success in every way. The excursionists on the Clyde line steamer Seminole, will leave Boston on Friday and New York on Saturday.

ELSEWHERE in our columns will be found a series of resolutions on the subject of the rights of riparian owners on the Passaic, N. J These embody some very valuable excerpts from legal decisions on the subject, all of which tend to prove that the New Jersey court of Errors was wrong in denying such rights and that an appeal, if carried to the Supreme court of the United States, will most likely result in the reversal of that decision.
