THE CATSKILL WATERSHED
The Catskill region is being boomed by Comptroler Coler as that which will solve the problem of water supply for New York city. A preliminary hydrographical survey is to be made by Robert E. Horton, hydrographical expert—a full and detailed survey to be made in the summer. The expenses will come under the $15,000 State appropriation passed by the legislature annually for the purpose of utilizing the government survey work in connection with the barge canal, and ship canal projects, and for other purposes. Mr. Horton’s hydrographical work in this State has furnished the government with valuable data in regard to the watersheds, flow of streams, and the hydrographical configuration of the State, which have been utilized by the State and by local municipalities in regard to sources of water supply and other purposes.
