THE BUFFALO CAST IRON COMPANY.
In 1867,Messrs. Drullard & Hayes established a cast-iron pipe company under the firm name of Drullard & Hayes. Mr. George B. Hayes being the ruling spirit and the originator of the concern. On Mr. Drullard's death Mr. Hayes ran it personally for about five years. During all that time the firm was continued under its original name. In 1883 it became incorporated under the style of the Buffalo Cast Iron Company, under the presidency of Mr. George B. Hayes, who has been actively connected with both concerns since the foundation of the business.
The works, which are located at Box avenue on the New York Central & Hudson railway belt line, are thereby connected with atl of the twenty-six railways that enter Buffalo, as well as with all the lake lines. The plant is entirely new, having been built within the last five years, and its proprietors claim that it is the “ most modern and thoroughly up-to-date plant in the country.” Its capacity is 120 tons per day, and it turns out all sorts and sizes of pipe from three-inch to fortyeight-fnch inclusive.
