Subsurface Foam KOs Fire
A $750,000 fire in a petroleum bulk storage plant in Collegedale, Tenn., that killed three civilians and injured eight other persons was extinguished after a day and a half with subsurface application of fluoroprotein foam in addition to surface foam and cooling water streams.
An alarm was struck at 6:19 a.m. last September 25 for the Tri-Community Fire Department to investigate a gasoline spill at the Southern Facilities bulk storage plant on Jersey Pike in Collegedale. I responded with five engine companies and one ambulance.
