THERE SEEMS to come a time in the life of most firemanic organizations when a few wellintentioned members get the "Let's start our own magazine" fever.
Frequently the germ is planted by some outside promoter who promises to perform miracles if given some financial assistance but whose only real interest is in making some easy money on a quick turnover. To make the thing pay advertising donations are too often sought in a way that isn't apt to enhance an association's prestige. Further than that, local sources are tapped for contributions that might normally, and more properly, go to relief and pension funds. No publication can live long under those conditions.
