SEWERAGE.
City Engineer Butts of Kansas City proposes to abate the West Kansas slough evil by constructing a temporary sewer to carry off the sewage between the State line and Mill street. The proposed sewer will be 4000 feet long and will cost $4000. It will be twelve inches in diameter at the State line, increasing to twenty-one inches at Mill street, and will be constructed of vitrified brick. The sewer is to be built at the expense of the city.
A survey is all completed for a new sewer from the Soldiers’ Home at Togus, Me., to the Kennebec river. At present the sewerage goes into a small stream, which is becoming foul and threatens the health of the community. The new sewer will be about six miles long.
