ROANOKE FIRE REPORT

Chief James McFail of Roanoke, Va., has issued the report of the Roanoke Fire Department for the year ending December 31, 1915. The report shows the property loss, including buildings and contents, was $82,151.05, while the insurance loss was $76,500.18. The value of the property at risk was $1,521,280, while the value of the property insured at risk was $855,815. The report is as follows: The department consists of six stations, 48 fullpaid men (six full-paid men were added on January 1, .1916), and the following apparatus: Three horse-drawn hose wagons and chemical engine, 3 horse-drawn steamers, 1 horse-drawn 75-foot aerial truck. 1 horse-drawn chief’s buggy, 1 extra horse-drawn hose wagon, 3 combination auto hose wagons and chemical engine, 80 fire alarm boxes, 9,000 feet 2½inch hose, 20 horses. There arc on the lines of the Roanoke Water Company 305 hydrants available for service. There are on the lines of the Vinton-Roanoke Water Company 43 hydrants owned by the city, and 37 private hydrants, making a total of 80 hydrants on the lines of the Vinton-Roanoke Water Company available for service. Total hydrants available for service, 385. The inventory of the department, December 31, 1915, includes real and personal property, etc., $166,410.53. The expenses of the department during the year were $50,987.40. Fire hydrant rental, $5,798.16.
