At a special meeting of the common council of Hartford, Conn., on J une 15, Joseph B. Carrier was elected chief of the fire department, with L. VV. Greenburg, II. L. Stanton, Francis Kane and Alexander Marlin as assistants.
Erving Engine Company No. I of Erving, Mass., have recently reorganized, with J. H. Gray, foreman; H. W. Coolidge, first assistant; E. W. Turner, second assistant; A. Smith, third assistant; A. G. Burbee, clerk and secretary.
