We are in receipt of the August number of Carter’s monthly magazine from John B. Heim, superintendent of water works, Madison, Wis. The magazine contains besides several illustrated articles, a sketch of Madison, with portraits of the municipal officials; a good half-tone of Mr. Heim, and a picture of the water works pumping station.
In a notice of Mr. John W. Hill’s work, “The Purification of Public Water Supplies,” the New York Medical Record of August 20, says:
