PENNSYLVANIA IMPROVEMENTS.

PENNSYLVANIA IMPROVEMENTS.

The citizens of Duquesne borough will vote on July 7, on the question of increasing their indebtedness $75,000, for the purpose of building a water works plant. The town is wholly without any water system. The election in Braddock borough will be held July 16, and the bonded indebtedness to be increased is about $100,000. If the election carries in favor of the increase the money will be expended on paving the several streets of the older part of the town yet unpaved and for putting in a complete sewerage system and grading and paving all the streets in the new Fourth ward, the recently annexed Copeland district. Turtle Creek council, at a special meeting on Friday night, ordered a special election to take place on Tuesday, July 23. The vote will be on granting authority to that council to issue bonds in the amount of five per cent, of the total assessed valuation of the borough for the present year. The bonds are to be redeemable in thirty years from date of issue, and the amount desired, about $50.000 or as much as may be necessary, is to be devoted to grading and paving the streets. The assessed valuation of Turtle Creek borough is $1,025,640, according to last assessment, and the present actual indebtedness is $20,000. Council reserves the right to limit or make changes in the improvements projected.
