The two installments of the history of the New York City Fire Department is a splendid example of what this interesting serial consists of, and that it is greatly appreciated by our readers is shown by the many laudatory letters that have been received by the editor. So far as we have been able to learn, this is the first time that any effort has been made to place in the hands, of the members of the fire fighting profession throughout the country.
