A suspect was taken into custody after he reportedly set his house on fire and made a barricade to prevent firefighters and police from accessing the scene Wednesday night.

WNYT reported (http://bit.ly/1byavBc) that a man was found armed with a weapon in a field near the house early Thursday morning. State police were able to negotiate with the man and he was taken into custody.

Firefighter Safety: The Violent Confrontation

As law enforcement responded to the fire call, they were warned by dispatchers that they could be met by an emotionally disturbed person who was threatening to kill those who showed up to help fight the fire.

When police and firefighters did arrived on scene, that barricade prevented them from getting to the house to put out the fire.
