Cologne, Germany — PennWell Deutschland GmbH, a company of the PennWell Corp., has announced a new European conference and trade show for fire technology, rescue services, and fire and disaster prevention. The show, FireEngineering, will be based on the highly successful Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) in the United States.
The inaugural conference will be held in Cologne, Germany, Oct. 24 -26, 2003.
Offering hands-on training and educational sessions as well as a trade show and exhibition hall, FireEngineering will set new standards in fire technology education in Germany as well as all of Europe.
Professional and volunteer fire brigades, rescue workers, paramedics, technical relief organizations and other European fire service providers will be invited to attend. Conference topics will include rescue strategies, terrorism, biological hazards, European standards, stress management and fire service management
FireEngineering also will provide hands-on training modeled on the successful H.O.T. training, a trademark of FDIC and FDIC West held in Indianapolis and Sacramento, Calif. The H.O.T. experience will provide a much-needed training opportunity for volunteer fire and rescue associations and organizations with flash-over, rescue, collapse and equipment training.

The show, FireEngineering, will be held every year for the five years between Insterschutz shows The last Interschutz, currently the largest fire technology trade show in Europe, was held in 2000.
Germany is home to more than one million volunteer and professional firefighters. Cologne also was selected for its central location and its accessibility by train, plane and car.
