350 volunteer firemen with 45 pieces of apparatus aid Long Beach, N. Y., department at seven-story hotel fire
THE VALUE of mutual aid was once again clearly demonstrated when fire raged through the President Hotel in Long Beach, L.I. on August 31. A seven-story brick structure with 198 apartments, it was a summertime resort hotel occupied mostly by elderly people. It had no fire escapes and was not sprinklered.
