Gleason & Bailey Manufacturing Co., has an order for a special hose carriage for East Sunbury, Pa., and Columbia, S. C., has placed a duplicate order of a year ago with the same firm for another hose wagon; also for a large city truck from Kaukauna, Wis., and a hose wagon from Eddystone, Pa. “Our special design Gleason and Bailey hose wagons have proven admirably adapted for the purpose for which they were designed" is an extract from annual report of the city of Rutland, Vt., and Chief R. J. Frail, of Hopkinton, Mass., bears the same testimony of the apparatus furnished to that place.

A correspondent writes us that it is authoritatively announced that a complete settlement has been concluded of all litigation, and all differences between the Fire Extinguisher Manufacturing Company—the manufacturers of the “Babcock ” and “Champion ” chemical fire engines and extinguishers—and the Muskegon Chemical Fire Engine Company of Muskegon, Michigan, the latter operating under its own patents. All the suits growing out of claims asserted by the Fire Extinguisher Manufacturing Company, that the Muskegon Company was infringing the Graham patent in using carbonic acid gas, have been settled. Thus the two companies are and will hereafter be in the open market as friendly competitors, each relying upon the merits of its own engines and extinguishers for patronage. Both are strong and reliable companies.
