The city council of Logansport, Ind., has awarded to Charles T. Holloway, of Baltimore, Md., the contract for one of his celebrated double-tank combination chemical engines and hose wagons. The Columbia fire company of Scranton, Pa., last week received its new Holloway combination engine and hose wagon, which is a handsome piece of fire apparatus. It gives great satisfaction.

The wax-treated fire hose, represented by the Combination Ladder Compary. of Providence, R. I., still seems to be the favorite hose in that section of the country. Within one week the departments of New London, Conn., East Providence, R. I., and Warren, R. I., have purchased it, sending in their orders for 1,000 feet, 500 feet, and 500 feet respectively.

S. F. Hayward & Co have just received an order from Boston, Mass, for another Babcock combination hook and ladder truck and chemical engine. This truck will be identical with the one which this company is now building for this city, and which will probably be delivered within a few weeks. This is a piece of apparatus which is rapidly coming into favor with many departments, as it combine’, the features of a chemical engine and a hook and ladder truck. S. F. Hayward & Co. are also building a Babcock truck, similarly equipped, for the Phoenix Company,of Wilmington Del.
