He remained with Rumsey & Co. until chosen Mayor of Seneca Falls in 1872. Since Mr. Bailey’s connection with the manufacturing firm of which he is now a member, the business has continued to progress under satisfactory conditions, and the demand for the company’s manufactures have increased. The standard of pumps, fire apparatus, etc. made by the Gleason & Bailey Manufacturing Company cannot be excelled, and their manufactures are more or less familiar in all fire departments of any prominence in the country. The subject of our illustration is thoroughly familiar with all the details of the business. In social qualities Mr. Bailey is courteous, agreeable and of engaging manners. As a business man, he is energetic, sagacious and persevering, and his gift of originality stands in ready stead to introduce advantageous improvements. Many excellent pieces of fire apparatus have been built by the Gleason & Bailey Manufacturing Company (limited), and at the present time, notwithstanding the general depression m business, the works arc kept busy filling orders.
