MEDAL PRESENTATIONS AT ALBANY.
The forty-sixth annual parade of the fire and police departments of Albany, N. Y., took place Oct. 3. Chief W. W. Bridgford was in command of the fire department. For the first time in the history of the department two of its members were presented with medals for an act of bravery. Lieutenant John J. Sheedy, of the Protectives, who received a medal was given the surprise of his life when, after Mayor Stevens pinned the medal on his breast, Mrs. Sheedy, with a small baby in her arms, went through the crowd in front of the city hall and kissed her husband heartily. Then she held up the baby so he, too, could kiss the brave fireman. The second medal went to John A. Hun, of Truck 3. Edgar M. Griffiths, president of the Board of Fire Underwriters, which donated and awarded the medals, made the presentations.
