Meadow Fire Threatens Milford
A general alarm fire swept 125 acres of town meadows in the Myrtle Beach section of Milford, Conn., on Oct. 26, endangering 350 homes along a two-mile stretch of waterfront.
Started by sparks from an incinerator, and fanned by shifting winds, the blaze roared uncontrolled across the meadows for more than three hours. It was one of the numerous fires in woodland and marsh areas that occurred in Connecticut and other New England states during the mid-October dry spell.
