MA_____NETO FIRE ALARM.

The Franklin Magneto fire alarm company, of Baltimore, has received many orders for its apparatus. It has been adopted by one of the largest trunk lines in the country to protect all its yards., wharf property, and stations and this after severe competition with all companies building apparatus of this nature. The Franklin company use a magneto in each alarm box which sends in its own alarm to the main station. When the box is pulled, sufficient power is generated therein to send in a current of fifty-five volts over the line which will ring the gong at the station and as many subsidiary gongs as are needed. The wiring in this system is a multiple wiring, and is so arranged as to give almost absolute reliability. Its details have been thoroughly worked out, and are covered by patents. The fact that no battery is required with this system, makes it an ideal system for large manufacturing plants, small villages, and towns not able to install expensive systems, requiring storage batteries or large primary batteries. The systems lately installed by the Franklin company are as follows: Roland Park, Md., forty boxes; Mount Clare shops, twenty-three boxes; Glenwood, Pa., fourteen boxes; St. Denis & Relay, Md., nine boxes.
