Los Angeles Board Appeals Rate Case

Los Angeles Board Appeals Rate Case

The Los Angeles, Cal., board of public service has appealed the case of the Los Angeles Country Club against it for an alleged overcharge of water rates. The question arose as to whether the water used on the club's golf course should be charged the irrigation or water rate. The question came on appeal filed by the board and the City of Los Angeles from a decision in favor of the club returned by Superior Judge Elliott Craig.

Prior to January 1. 1922, the club enjoyed a certain water rate based on a combined irrigating and domestic scale. On that date, however, a new rate, considerably higher, was placed in effect. On July 1 the bill was presented to the club for water used under the higher rate.
