Lethbridge Fire Department.

Lethbridge Fire Department.

As evidence of the energy and goaheadness of the young cities of Alberta, one of the three recently organised Provinces of the Dominion of Canada, is Lethbridge, where is to be found probably the finest fire hall in western Canada. It was erected at a cost of $50,000. and it is equiped with the following apparatus: Seagrave chemical engine, with a 60-gal. copper tank; Seagrave hook and ladder truck—66-ft. ladder; Boyce hose wagon; chiefs buggy, 2,500 ft. of Paragon hose. The department has as chief C. T. Kroning, an experienced fireman, who was captain under Chief Harris, of Tampa. Fla. The department is full paid and at present consists of twelve men. The city is now building a new tire hall in the eastern part of the town, which is another proof of the goaheadness of the council. It is not too much to say that, so far as the fire service goes, the present council is the most progressive the city ever had. I his i> demonstrated in other ways, and not least by the fact that in this by no means old municipality—already populated by some 11,000 or 12.000 people—permits were granted in the month of May for the erection of new buildngs, the value of which amounted to $225,000—an astonishingly fine record for 11011 a recently formed community.

So far as concerns outbreaks of fire, the city has been very fortunate of late, indeed, there have been none at all.”
