Large Well for Masillon
That the city of Masillon, Ohio, will not soon again suffer from the water shortage experienced last summer is the general conviction, now that the new large well is almost ready for operation. The well is drilled to a depth of 1775 feet, set in a concrete pit 12 feet square surrounding the top of the well, in which a deep well turbine pump will be placed, having a capacity of from one million to one and a half million gallons per day. This pump will be driven by a 100 horsepower electric motor. The delay in completing the well is due to its size, which is out of the ordinary and for which it was necessary to have special pipe, casing, screens and tools constructed, all of which were delayed, as were all special orders, by the war. However, the well now' proves to be much better than the water company had anticipated in quantity, it is stated, and the qualitv is of the best.
