Large Return from Water Meters
The water department, of Fitchburg, Mass., received the following sums in the year: from water meters, $100,749.72; from water rates, $516.94 and from sewer pipes, $8,370.58. The rainfall obtained during the year was as follows, from Dr. Mason’s records, 36.80 inches; at Watatic, 33.80; at Wachusett, 44.15; from Meetinghouse pond gaguge, 41.49. The average rainfall for the past 50 years has been 41.71 inches. There are 5130 meters in service.
