Larchmont, N. Y., Holds Fire Officers’ School
The Larchmont, N. Y., Fire Department, guarding one of the finest residential sections of Westchester County, holds a monthly school for its officers. In the report of Chief George S. Towle to the Village Board of Trustees, he says:
“The Fire Council has met on the second Monday of each month and In addition to giving full consideration to the routine of managing the Department, has afforded all officers an opportunity to study fire fighting and fire prevention. An average of eighteen officers has attended these schools and with the knowledge there secured, are enabled to go to their companies and instruct the personnel, so that at this time we have a well informed, well drilled, devoted and earnest membership. The department has drilled six times, with an average attendance of over one hundred. Each company has held over twelve business meetings, at which much theoretical instruction has been given and, in addition, each company has held twelve or more drills (very necessary for the instruction of new members)."
